Mikoshi - portable shrines
In processions of traditional Japanese festivals, we carry portable shrines called " Mikoshi ".
Mikoshi is a symbol of respect, health, and fortune.
My friend in Tokyo went to see summer festivals and Mikoshi yesterday, and sent me these photos.
お祭りで担ぐ「神輿」は英語で portable shrine (移動式の神社）
と表現します。
