My friend in Tokyo went to see Awa Dance in Koenji Tokyo. According to him, this event reminds him of the end of summer.
I'm glad that the friend had a nice summer. Climate will also change into autumn weather in a three week or so.
東京の友人が高円寺の阿波踊りに行ってきたとのことで写真を送ってくれました。友人によると、このイベントは夏の終わりを感じさせる行事とのことで、気候も徐々に秋らしくなっていくのでしょうね。友人が有意義な夏を過ごし、嬉しく思います。

My friend in Tokyo saw this cool jacket at a trade show exhibition, and he said this jacket drew attention of guests to the exhibition from overseas.

これも Cool Japan の 一種でしょうかね。
My friend in Tokyo kindly sent me the photos of Obon dance.
In Japan, we have a summer tradition called Obon ; its concept is ... souls of deceased family members temporarily return to their homes in the middle of summer, like a summer vacation in the heaven. And we welcome and entertain the temporary return of one's ancestors' souls with traditional dance. That is the Obon dance.
Among all the seasonal events in the year in Japan, I like Obon the best, because I feel souls of my father and mother closer during Obon.
東京の友人が盆踊りの写真を送ってくれました。
昨年、母が他界するまで「お盆とは何なのか？」を深く考えたことはありませんでした。
でも、お盆の根源にあるのは「亡くなった家族や先祖の魂が夏の間、一時帰省するという天国の夏休みみたいなもの」という風習なのだということをあらためて学んでからは、年間行事の中でお盆が一番好きになりました。なぜなら、お盆の期間は父と母、祖母や先祖の存在を、より身近に感じるからです。
友人の話だと、東京地区では、最近は盆踊りの曲にボン・ジョビなども使われているということです。
ボン・ジョビの「ボン」を「盆」に懸けているのかもしれませんが、ボン・ジョビの代表曲は Living on a prayer (祈りながら生きている)というタイトルなので、ある意味、お盆のコンセプトに通じる部分もあると思います。
2024年のお盆シーズンは地震が起きたり、台風が接近したり、色々ありますが、皆さん、どうぞ良い夏の日々をお過ごし下さい。
What I'm doing lately is practice of some songs.
Entertaining guests with songs is an important part of tour guiding.
I hope my singing resonates with the guests' minds.
Although there is much room for improvement, practice takes your skills one step closer to your ideal level.
You need to get out of your comfort zone little by little for expanding your horizen and for further growth of oneself.
For the time being, I would like to pour a lot of energy and time for the job of English tour guiding and translation. That path will surely cross over with my way as an exercise physiologist/wellness coach.
