it is setsubun tomorrow

tomorrow Feb third is the bean throwing festival in japan, which is called setsubun in japanese.  we throw soy beans in the house shouting <out with demon    in with good luck! >   this traditional event symbolises warding off evil spirits of the house.   i am not sure it is a remnant of animism but we japanese customarily think that every object has its own spirit or soul .   and it is believed that on this day of setsubun festival,  eating the same number of beans as your age makes you healthy and lucky,   though i want to , as i am 43 yeas old i cant eat so much.......

明日は節分ですね。年齢と同じ数の豆を食べると、健康で過ごせるっていいますが、40個以上も豆食べたら、腹こわしたりしないか心配だよ(笑)
